This Scrum User Group (SUG) came about in order to fulfill a need in the agile community. As a consultant that is either on the road every week or working remote from my home in a very small town, I have felt left out of all of the great collaboration that is being experienced by those that live in large cities that have very active agile user groups.
In May 2014, I reached out to the Scrum Alliance and pitched my idea about having a Scrum User Group for people that are in similar situations as mine. They agreed there was a void for people that are constantly on the road or who work in remote areas or areas that do not have an agile community. On May 18th, 2014 my request was approved by the Scrum Alliance and became an officially recognized Scrum User Group.
Initially, I will be conducting monthly web meetings using GoToMeeting. Unfortunately, I am currently not in a position to provide a toll-free number. As the interest and attendance to the web meetings grow we may be able to reach out to our industry and see if we can get a couple of sponsors that can help eliminate the cost of having a toll-free number.
I will be posting the meeting information at least 2 weeks in advance. If you intend to attend a meeting, please consider signing up in advance so I can determine the number of connections I need to have for my GoToMeeting session.
I will also be posting articles that I and other people have written. Let me know if you want to contribute an article, help review articles, perform a presentation, or if you are in a position to provide financial support as a sponsor.
Feel free to email me if you have any questions.
I’m looking forward to speaking and meeting you online.
